Vail, Colorado, July 18, 2016. The Vail Centre is pleased to announce that it has initiated a three-year collaboration with Cornell University’s recognized School of Hotel Administration. Specifically, the Vail Centre will offer a Certificate in Hospitality Leadership through Cornell’s Professional Development Program which is geared toward hospitality professionals who have a minimum of two years of experience in management. Courses will begin in the spring of 2017.

Cornell University attracts professionals world-wide as the most respected executive education program in the hospitality industry. Professionals who participate in the master certification program will be offered courses in leadership, strategy, finance, marketing, human resources, food service and revenue management. The intense program is intended for managers who wish to gain the knowledge and skills needed to advance to the highest levels in hotel and restaurant management. The curriculum is designed to establish both a path toward personal advancement as well as business success.

“The Vail Centre is focused on supporting area professionals and helping their businesses thrive,” noted Todd Wallis, Chief Operating Officer of the Vail Centre. “Tourism is an $18 billion business in Colorado and with the majority of the businesses in the valley dependent on visitors, we are very excited to bring the premiere program for hospitality management to the valley. The Cornell program has the potential to have a long-term positive impact on economic development in our region.”

“We are very excited to be working with the Vail Centre to bring Cornell programs to Eagle County,” said Tom Kline, Executive Director of Executive Education at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. “It will provide a unique opportunity for hospitality professionals in the Vail Valley and the broader Rocky Mountain region to focus on professional education away from their day- to-day routine in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Cornell’s hospitality management programs have been instrumental in advancing business and personal success and taking this program to a location where hospitality is a dominant industry will give even more professionals access to these courses.”

The Cornell program is a cross-disciplinary course of study that covers topics essential for leading a successful hospitality operation whether it’s a restaurant or a hotel. From line-level managers to senior executives, the professional development program at Cornell provides a deep dive into how to drive profit through capital budgeting, proper allocation of resources, development of a strong human resources base and property asset management among other key topics for hospitality professionals.
